Stockland Kings Arms – Help make the pub your Community Hub!

How a Food-led pub can be a community hub

SCPL is committed to buying the Kings Arms with the help of the community and other investors from further afield. All shareholders will become members of the society and will have an equal say in how the society is run for the benefit of the community.

SCPL’s business plan and share offer were developed with input from our colleagues at the Beckley and Area Community Benefit Society (BACBS) who are the proud owners of the Abingdon Arms in Oxfordshire. In 2016, 280 people raised £505,000 in two months via a community share issue, and the Abingdon Arms was purchased from Brakspear. You can read the BACBS story in their own words here: https://bacbs.org/our-story/

Since then, their pub has really taken off and has now been named the Best Community Pub in the Country in the 2018 Sawdays Pub Guide https://pubs.sawdays.co.uk/

You can read an Oxford mail story on the granting of the award here:   http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/16258048.This_historic_village_inn_has_been_voted__best_community_pub_in_UK_/

The Abingdon Arms ‘More Than a Pub’ offerings include Coffee Mornings and Parent & Children After School Club activities. Why not take a look at the Abingdon Arms website to see a great example of how a food-led pub can also become a community hub:  http://theabingdonarms.co.uk/

We strongly believe that a successful pub business can be built here in Stockland – this is a proven pub model that works for the 21st Century. We can only do it with your help and commitment! Download our share offer documents today, and apply to become a shareholder and member of scpl.
