SCPL ANNOUNCEMENT – THE KINGS ARMS INN, STOCKLAND, IS NOW UNDER COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP!

SOCIETY’S FIVE YEAR CAMPAIGN FINALLY BEARS FRUIT

The photo above shows the moment Mike Pugh (centre) handed the keys of the Kings arms to the Chairman of SCPL, Peter Maitland, with the other members of the Management Committee alongside, suitably attired for a very cold day in Stockland!

We are delighted to announce that the Society and its members are now the proud owners of the historic Kings Arms Inn, Stockland after completing the transaction today.

We would like to thank all our shareholders, supporters, volunteers and past members of the Management Committee who have enabled us to reach this major milestone.

Also, the Plunkett Foundation (especially Tasha, Aimee, Donna and Ashley) for support over the past 5 years; Dale Ingram of Planning 4 Pubs; the More than a Pub program; Hilary from the Cooperative Assistance Network; Mike and Gabriel from Beckley & Area Community Benefit Society and all contributors to the Cooperative Pubs User Group on Facebook; Beviss and Beckingsale Solicitors, especially Sanjeev Harash; Bridget Bachelor for our Website and Lucy Shipley for our social media.

Finally, our thanks go to the principals of the previous owner, Tony Todd and Mike Flood, along with Joan Davenport and Mike Pugh their local caretakers.

We can allow ourselves a brief celebration of this historic achievement before we get down to the work of refurbishment and appointing a tenant!
