More News on Kings Arms Opening

thank you from the committee

Committee members past and present and their partners enjoyed a delicious meal on Opening night at the Kings Arms.

We would like to thank our anonymous benefactor(s) who contributed £100 towards the costs of our meal – a lovely gesture which was much appreciated at our table!

COTLEY HOUNDS TO MEET NEW TENANTS AT THE KINGS ARMS

On Wednesday the 29th of January at 11:30, the Cotley Hounds will return to the Kings Arms to herald in the new chapter of the Kings Arms legacy.

Master of the Cotley Hunt, Fred Eames, is bringing the hounds for an exercise of the pack which all are welcome to attend!

The Cotley Hunt has been in the Eames family for over 200 years and is one of the few privately owned packs of hounds in the country. There is a photograph of Colonel Eames (Fred’s grandfather) outside the pub on the King’s Arms website in the gallery.

Traditionally the hunt used to meet at the Kings Arms before every Christmas as well as running the successful skittle league and many teams used the Kings Arms as a regular venue. Additionally the Hunt held many dinners there acquiring such a strong connection with the pub that the Dining Bar became known as the ‘Cotley Bar’ back in the day!

The hounds will meet outside the pub for 20 minutes before continuing their exercise.

People are very welcome to come and meet the hounds and chat to Fred and the Hunt team. Mary Perry (Joint Master) says: ‘We are as pleased about the reopening of the Kings Arms as you all are and hope to continue this special relationship for many years to come’
